Christmas

Nowhere does Christmas as well as cosy country pubs and The Pig and Butcher does this better than most (if we do say so ourselves!).  Expect mulled wine on the bar and subtle, traditional foliage both in the pub and our fantastic ‘country kitchen’ style private dining room.

Once again we have put together a meat lovers feast for all parties of 6 or more.  All dishes on the feasting menu come on vintage platters and are served ‘farmhouse style’ for the entire table to share. Parties of 5 or less can choose from our December à la carte menu.

Our stunning private dining room complete with aga and wood burning stove can seat up to 24 guests while our dining room is available for private use for up to 40 guests (minimum spend applies).

We like our team to celebrate Christmas with their families, so please note we will be closed on Christmas Day.

Our feasting menu explained: Choose either one or two dishes from the mains and puddings for the whole party to share. If two dishes are chosen the split will be made 50:50 or in the event of an unequal split, in favour of your preferred option.

Festive sausage roll with apple sauce and pear chutney
Wild mushroom croquettes with parmesan & truffle aioli

Starters – The Board to share

Black pudding Scotch egg & butcher’s sauce,
Smoked duck & celeriac remoulade,
Beetroot salmon gravlax with cucumber & dill,
Wild game terrine & red onion, house pickles & crisp bread 

Main course – Choose up to 2 dishes for the whole party to share

Rare Breed Bronze turkey breast rolled & stuffed with sage, onion & cranberries, roasted chesnuts & cranberry sauce
Tamworth pork loin, celeriac, mustard & apple remoulade
Millbeck braised lamb shoulder, balsamic glaze & roasted shallots
Braised Hereford shortrib of beef, wild mushrooms & Roscoff onions

All served with gravy, roast potatoes, honey glazed parsnips, heritage carrots, roasted Brussel sprouts & pigs in blankets

Dessert – choose up to 2 dishes for the whole party to share

Steamed Christmas pudding, brandy butter & custard
Flourless chocolate cake, toffee sauce & vanilla ice cream
Winter crumble of apples & cranberries, eggnog sauce

British cheeseboard – chutney & Irish soda crisp  (£5 supplement per person)
